Domine Ivimus
Archaeologists have discovered an ancient engraving at the site of Jesus’ crucifixion and burial, specifically in the Chapel of Saint Helena within the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. This graffiti depicts an old ship with an inscription in Latin: Domine Ivimus, which translates both as “Lord, we have arrived” and “Lord, we shall go.”

This inscription carries a profound duality of meaning. “Lord, we have arrived” reflects the believer’s journey of drawing near to Christ, particularly in His suffering and sacrifice. In response, the believer declares, “Lord, we shall go,” committing to carry the gospel to the nations.

“The spirit of Christ is
the spirit of missions.
The nearer we get to Him, the more intensely missionary we become.”
Henry Martyn
As we draw close to Jesus, the natural response is to go and proclaim His good news. To cultivate a Christ-centered missional heart, we will explore four key aspects of Jesus’ life and ministry. These qualities define a World Christian and inspire action in fulfilling the Great Commission.
