I grew up in a dysfunctional family. My biological father left my 18-year-old mother when he discovered she was pregnant with me. After giving birth, she entrusted me to the care of my maternal grandparents and then disappeared from my life.
Although my grandparents loved me, they adhered to a strong Asian cultural norm of not openly expressing their affection. As a result, I often felt like an outsider in my own home. I struggled to find love and a sense of belonging, and my teachers often attributed my poor performance and inadequacies to my upbringing, as someone abandoned by his parents. This led to feelings of anger, resentment, and a significant lack of self-esteem. Both of my grandparents passed away in my teenage years, which served as a wake-up call for me; I no longer had anyone to rely on. I had to juggle my studies and work, which became unavoidable.
At 18, I managed to enter Singapore Polytechnic, and during a CCA fiesta, I had a divine encounter with Fuji, a staff member from FES (then). A few months later, I attended a youth camp and had a supernatural encounter with Jesus that dramatically changed the course of my life. The transformation was so instant and profound that my classmates no longer recognized me and began to distance themselves because I had become "too holy" for them.
Soon after, I sensed God's call to enter full-time ministry. Although I hesitated at first, four different pastors and full-time ministers encouraged me over the next six months, saying they believed God was urging me to accept this path. Motivated by their support, I continued my journey: after graduating from Polytechnic, I studied theology and have served as a full-time minister ever since. I am happily married to Katherine, and we have a wonderful son, Ashton.
Currently, I have the privilege to serve as the Head for both Youth Ministry and Young Adult Ministry in the Chinese Congregation.
Scope of Ministry:
Presently, I am served as the Ministry Head of Scripture Union Singapore, I supervises both the children’s and youth ministries and collaborates closely with the respective ministry heads to establish their direction. I ensures that their efforts align with the vision and mission of Scripture Union as a para-church organization that supports the local church.
My responsibilities include writing curricula for children and youth, conducting training sessions to equip Sunday school teachers and youth workers, running children's programs, speaking at children’s and youth camps and services, and teaching Bible studies for young people.
I am passionate about nurturing a God-fearing generation through intentional discipleship. I strongly believes in the significance of training youth leaders and Sunday school teachers to better reach the next generation.
